Abby Highland (she/any) is an Associate with over eight years of experience in non-profit community engagement, fundraising, and strategic development. Abby supports a diverse set of client organizations, specializing in annual development strategy (with a focus on individual giving and major gifts); building and implementing campaigns; designing studies, and working with Development Projections and CRM databases. Abby brings a relational and expansive approach to development, and takes great joy working alongside client organizations to realize their mission-driven and fundraising goals.
Abby made her start supporting interfaith organizations, primarily in Unitarian Universalist congregations, as a Membership and Community Engagement professional in Boulder, Colorado and Manhasset, New York. During this time, she directed annual fundraising campaigns, acted as a creative partner in communications strategies, and developed stewardship plans for congregations with a focus on building programs that engaged diverse communities, centered equity, and helped provide a welcoming space for all. Prior to joining Advance NYC, Abby was a Development Specialist at The Quad Preparatory School, a non-profit academy for neurodiverse students in Lower Manhattan, where she created annual development and communications plans, produced events including galas and conferences, and engaged with key constituents.
Abby holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from The University of Colorado at Boulder, where she also studied philosophy, religion, GIS, research methods, and data analysis. A naturalist at heart, Abby loves gardening, birding, scifi, and art.
