Sarah Dell'Orto
Sarah Dell'Orto (she/her) launched and now leads Advance NYC’s Institutional Giving Department, which supports dozens of clients annually with grants management, language creation, and high-level strategic oversight across foundation and government giving lines. She is particularly adept at translating a client’s mission, programming, and unique voice into clear and compelling language for funders.
Sarah brings a deep understanding of the funding community and a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities within the sector; in nearly a decade with Advance she has had the opportunity to work with more than 100 nonprofits, as well as on special projects with several national and local funders. At the onset of COVID-19, Sarah helped Advance clients tap into millions of dollars in emergency funding, and led office hours and webinars for the field, including a pro-bono grantwriting workshop in partnership with DonateNYC.
Prior to joining Advance, Sarah spent four years as the Grants Manager at Signature Theatre during the transition to its new, 75,000 square foot, three-theater home on 42nd Street. At Signature, she managed a portfolio of 40 institutional funders totaling nearly $1 million. She previously served as the Deputy Director of Domestic Programs at Battery Dance Company. Sarah holds a BA in English from New York University and an MPhil in Popular Literature from Trinity College Dublin. A proud resident of Kingston, NY, Sarah is happiest when hiking in the Catskills with her Pit Bull, Ethel Merman, biking the Hudson Valley’s scenic rail trails, and tending to her veggie garden.
